So the Volo's Survivor Race thread is showing that the Tabaxi is quite the decisive race, repeatedly getting many up and down votes.

So what about you, random person who thought this was about house pets, do you like the Tabaxi or nah?

I've always had a soft spot for cat races.

I also get why some people don't like them, given the fact they embody the CN lifestyle as described in Volo's.

I have not had the opportunity to play one but it is on my D&D Bucket List. Interestingly, as often as I play, I have also not seen one played. Perhaps some are apprehensive about playing a unique race such as this one or they are put-off by linking the race to the common house cat when they are firmly partial to dogs?

The Tabaxi out-elfs the Elf, with bonuses to 5e's uber combat stat and uber-casting stat, and Darkvision, and free proficiency in Perception and Stealth. It's just too optimal for too many builds.

If anyone takes a tabaxi in my campaign, I'm immediately including a villain named The Curiosity.

That'll sort things right out.

I wouldn't say that:
Feline Agility is going to come up about as much as "can't be magically put to sleep" and I'd take advantage on saving throws vs charm over 1d4 natural weapons.
Which leaves an extra proficiency vs Elf Weapon Training/Spellcasting/Mask of the Wild.

I like Tabaxi, but I don't like the FR limitation to basically jaguars (spotted jungle cats). In my head (and my world) they can run the gamut of house cat colorations and up through the great cats.
