I should have remembered that Szass Tam thing Red Wizards got muddled up in my brain with other Wizards. Unless she was with the Arcane Brotherhood too.

She used to be, but she ditched them to join up with Tam.

Chris probably figured that anyone who felt like Shadowmantle was too well known for the campaign they were running were probably able to create a pseudonym on their own if their story demanded it.

No, I'm talking about the case where a player knows her but the DM doesn't.

A better designer would help the DM by simply saying "she calls herself Sue"

Honestly she could just call herself Valindra. It's an elf name and if they have heard of Valindra Shadowmantle the evil Lich who threatened Neverwinter. She could just say Valindra is an elven name and they happen to share it.

Absolutely! [MENTION=12731]CapnZapp[/MENTION] and I have an understanding. When he denigrates Chris's skills as a designer because he doesn't do what Capn thinks any "competent" designer should do (which usually involves nitpicky little things in adventures that Capn doesn't believe he should ever be forced to make up on his own for his own particular ideosyncratic table and instead it should all just be handed to him in the book)... I make snarky comments.
