I'd like to see something set in Abeir, but what is the plot hook that REQUIRES Abeir to be THE place where a critical activity happens?

Rise of Tiamat could have had something where Tiamat wants Abeir-ian dragons to come to her aid (why?) and therefore the Heroes had to get there (how?) to interfere with that plan too.

Not even a little. I would much rather see more areas of the Realms updated (outside of the fricking Sword Coast). Even better, I'd like to see other settings re-explored, like Greyhawk, Dragonlance, or even Dark Sun (and I hate Dark Sun).

I agree with see other parts of the realms more completely updated.

*GASP* Why WOULDN'T you be interested in a part of the world which is policed by high/epic level adventurers who deal with all plots in the region so the actual PCs will only be cleaning up the mess they are doing? :O

😮

A pocket dimension of dead primordial titans (where the sky itself might actually be the shed blood of a titan), elemental spirits, dragon overlords, Yuan-Ti, aboleths, and a blue sun . . . Minus the blue sun this is kind of how I might describe my homebrew setting.

This is awesome. Any specific WOTC products detailing this place?

The 4e FRCG details the parts of it they had switched over to Toril and the SCAG talks about the parts from Toril that had switched to Abeir and back again.

Also you'll want to read The Devil You Know by Erin M. Evans which is the only example of a novel directly visiting Abier.

If you think that is how things work in the Forgotten Realms then you have no idea at all how things work in the Forgotten Realms.

First off there are too many villians in FR, powerful ones for high level NPCs like Elminister to fix everything, not that Elminister is high level anymore.

Nor are they inclined to fix everything.

And they have other responsiblities to handing off the work of saving the day to PCs is something they'd prefer to do.

Seriously the Chosen of Mystria got hit hard with the nerf bat when Mystria died and just because she's back does make them as powerful as they used to be.

In fact most of them are in an incorpreal ghostly Yoda state or governing a place or on some strange secret quest and no one but mystria knows where they are.

And Drizzt is busy recovering from being driven insane by a Demon Lord while learning to become a Monk.

That only place with alot of High Level good NPCs is Mulhorand, and their too busy with politics and religion to save the day so they deligate tgat job to PCs.

Off-topic: I missed that part where Drizzt is becoming a monk, care to elaborate a little for those who skip a few (many) Companions novels? I'm not much of a Drizzt fan because of how the ranger class was impacted mechanically because of the character, but I'm curious to see the monk get the same treatment.

Abeir is interesting because it's mostly unexplored and full of potential. But setting an adventure there would be hard as the author wouldn't just be creating the adventure but creating the world almost from scratch. It's pretty much an entirely new campaign setting. And they're not doing enough with their existing settings to warrant a brand new one.
