SPIDER-MAN: INTO THE SPIDER-VERSE Trailer 2

I think the art style is interesting. Not necessarily pleasing to the eye all the time, but that may be part of the point. I usually don't give trailers much weight, but I'm more likely to see the film now.

Not a fan of mixing the universes.

I've thought about it, and it is kind of necessary. Miles Morales and Peter Parker are both great characters. At this point, they both deserve to exist. However, Miles needs a universe to live in, but the rest of his universe just wasn't pulling its weight, in terms of fan interest. And Miles is not enough to support a universe by himself. This crossing gives him the connection to a context he needs.

Oh I understand that. But let him do it..... on his own within the Marvel Universe. This feels too much like a Spider-Family like the Batman Family.

Not a fan of mixing the universes. There is a neat mix / use of art techniques here which I appreciate.

Not sure.

Knowing that the Spiderverse is a big deal in the comics I actually like that they brought in this alternate earth now and used animation to make sure that it is visually distinct from the core MCU. I also quite like the art style, its somewhere between live 3D and call backs to the comic art. It works well in my mind, although Spidergwens eyes do look a bit weird.

The MCU has introduced the idea of strange dimensions and parallel worlds so there's still a way to link this if they even want to. I agree with Umbran, Miles Morales does deserve to have his place and giving him an adult Peter Parker as a mentor provides that cognitive bridge for fans. That said I am suprised they introduced SpiderGwen in the first outing too

One is unique. Two is coincidence. Three is a pattern. If you're pitching is as Spiderverse, you need to show there's a multiverse of spiders. I'm half-hoping they go whole hog, and get to the Spectacular Spider Ham, and maybe even Supaidāman (the Japanese version, with the giant robot)....

Well, it sort of is. Do you know the comics-basis for this story?

Not a strong feel. At 4.00 a book I quit buying in the 90's when Valiant stopped publication. I know Miles was introduced in the "Ultimate" universe with different but still spider-like powers. When that universe was destroyed he was jettisoned into Marvel 616 and has met Peter Parker.

Then, they expand a bit on the JMS run of the comics, which plays with the totemic nature of Spider Man. You know how Spider Man himself, and a whole lot of his villains are representations of animals? Doctor Octopus. Scorpion. Vulture. Rhino. This is an example of totemic power in action. There is a sort of higher Spider, outside all the particular realities, that touches on each of them.

And there's a family of vampires that feeds on totemic heroes. And Spider decides there's been enough of that, and kind of bands the Spider Heroes together to defend themselves and the multiverse from these vampires.
