Choose One Cantrip You'd Like In Real Life

To be frank, I've spent many hours at Nursing Homes over the last 6 months due to a family situation. I think Spare the Dying would be more of an ER use as opposed to a nursing home/elderly patient work. Many of the patients in a Nursing Home have a DNR anyways.

You're right. If I knew the Spare the Dying cantrip, how could I work anywhere else than ER? 16 hour shifts every day... Noope, rather stay Chaotic and gamble in casinos with Mage Hand or Guidance..

...or go full Evil, Vicious Mockery, no somatic component... can you imagine the road rage? :) Also killing without being implicated within 60 feet of target?

I've been wondering about that...and I am not convinced the spell works like that. It has a duration of one hour, and you can have up to three of its non-instantaneous effects active at a time. Doesn't that mean at the end of the hour whatever effects you used return to what they were before? Doesn't the cleaned item become dirty again an hour later?

I don't think so. Instant effects are over with as soon as the instant is over and the results stick around. I think the non-instant effects paragraph is referring to the effects like chilling or coloring things for one hour.

I'm just going to say that I really disappointed in most of these response.

I mean, you're offered the chance to do magic- anything from being able to kill (attack cantrips) to steal (mage hand) to con (minor illusion) to save people (spare the dying) to well, almost anything ....

And y'all are like, "Hey, prestidigitation will make laundry easier!"

Man, we're old.
The laundry answer isnt even a very good one. You clean a square foot every six seconds, with you having to be there. How is that easier than throwing a pile in the washing machine? I think the sweater I'm wearing right now would take a minute and a half or so to clean, given each arm needs two castings each, and that's one item...how is that a big time saver?

Clean laundry - I have a washer/dryer for that.

Now Fold Laundry - that's serious magic. :P

I can't help but think that if you don't take Spare the Dying, then at at least one point in your life you would really, really regret taking anything else instead.

As in "I could literally STOP THIS TRAGIC, UNTIMELY DEATH, if I hadn't opted to magically do my laundry".
