D&D 5E amazon.co.uk Descent in Avernus order "Estimated arrival date: October 12 2019 - October 14 2019"

I per-ordered Descent from Avernus and just received notice about this significant delay. I guess I should have supported my LGS. Cancelled the order and will be getting the book from local shop instead. Anyone know if there is a more significant issue with the print run or something?

I've noticed before Amazon in the UK don't seem to get D&D books on launch day. However their delays tend not to be quite as long as advertised.

It's happened with everything I've ordered from WotC or Paizo in the past year or two. A week before the release date, the estimated delivery jumps by about a month. Sometimes it changes back, sometimes it doesn't.

Could be worse -- I just went to order the first Pathfinder 2E adventure ready for our first session next Thursday. A month!

I assume the books are printed in the US then shipped to Europe on a container ship.

Amazon have been doing the same with me, its most frustrating, time to suck it up and spend a few more quid getting it from elsewhere I think

This looks like to be major distribution issue, and may as well be related to Trump Tax ripple effect in logistics for printed in China, or similar issue. But EU LGS that works with Blackfire and Asmogee reports that there are major delays in Paizo and Wizards products among many others.

Funny how in good ole Australia we're still expecting Descent into Avernus from the 17th of Sept.
Even from the US; I appreciate that Amazon US is selling this book for $56.66
