D&D General How To Reconcile the Settings

No, while they aren't FR in origin, they first appeared in a Planescape product, they do not predate the Forgotten Realms.

But while Tieflings, Genasi, and Aasimar started out in Planescape, they were orphaned when WotC stopped publishing Planescape for decades, leaving FR to adopt them. I think there is now more FR lore on Planetouched then Planescape now, because FR kept getting support, Planescape did not.
Really? The word teifling is never used prior to planescape?

Lets not lose sight of the original issue. Its not realistic for there to be sustaining populations of a massive number of sentient humanoid races all in the same place. Other planes are not the same place.

They are linked areas with populations on the material plane, besides who says every PC race has massive numbers, most don't. Humans, Goblins, Hobgoblins, have massive populations, most of the rest don't and can be measured in the tens of thousands to a few million on a world. The Elan population of Toril is just 12 individuals.

Nope. It does not predate the planescape boxes set. And planescape tieflings were cooler and more diverse than realms tieflings.

That is impossible that Planesvcape Tieflings are cooler and more diverse, because the Forgotten Realms contains both Planescape and 4e Infernal style Tieflings, as well as related races, like Fey'ri, and more. Some FR Tieflings are related to Gods like Set and Besheba, others are more tradition Tieflings. They are also more cultyral diverse.

Those were cool additions. But imho planescape tieflings may not even be recognized as the same race or even share a common culture from one tiefling to another. There appearance were so different based on different potential fiend lineages.
That’s my opinion. I won’t knock the Fey’ri, I loved them.

That type of Tiefling is still found in FR, although they are a minority of Tieflings, that is my point, Planescape Tieflings can't be better or more diverse then FR Tieflings, because populations of Planescape Tieflings are included in the FR Tieflings. Do you get what I am getting at?

I definitely see that perspective. It’s just that small minority was way more present and diverse in planescape.
