D&D 5E Void Wraith Idea?

That's big, I missed that when I just did a quick glance. That is a serious nerf for the casters (even if they still get their cantrips) in this battle. I guess they better have buffing spells!

They do. One of the PCs has been built around buffing. She can twin/extend fly, greater invisability, aid etc.

They're level 9, probably want to treat them as level 11 due to feats, ability scores, magic items. They have counterspells.

Some spells are fairly pointless. As I said I started with the archmage at CR 12 and kind of merged it with the wraith stats and added battlemage and rakshasa ability.

They killed a CR 17 Dragon last week, in it's lair after it used hit and run and 6-7 encounters to grind them down.

I wasn't suggesting they couldn't do it. It just doesn't sound fun as a caster character to have all of your spells taken away. That was my worry.

Yeah one of them gets a bit salty when you counterspell his stuff. He likes dumping his spells up front and then wanting to long rest.
