I think I have been pretty much convinced anyone with a Martial flavor needs an extra-attack. There are enough sneaky system features that play off of it.

There's just not a lot to base off of in 5e so using ways to make use of what's there is the best way to go about it.

In 4e I actually advocated for the Warlord having Heavy Armor be much more accessible than it was. Flavorwise a Tactical Warlord with super high intellect and Hide and Shield was basically just as well Armored as a Heavy Armor but not necessarily better for the flavor ie Knight Commander is basically one of the root things mentioned and one of the Early on Paragon Paths

4e Warlord had Chainmail as proficiency though.

That too. I think Charge needs added back into the core for one thing. When you do a dash you may perform a melee attack as a bonus action.

Then one could key more things off of that.

Yup I just argued against it :p

They could have started in scale or hide and it would have worked as well then the feat for front-line commander (not remembering the name) would have raised it up to plate

But are you fine with my Warlord starting with scale mail like a Ranger?

Speaking of armour, do you think the Frontier Gear Specialist feature 'Heavy Stalker' is good or not? Should it apply to all armour you are proficient with and then you can use Militia Leader to train your Paladin friend to not apply disadvantage in plate?

Make that like the grab action so those with extra attacks get charge too. A battlemaster or martial adept could actually end their charge with a maneuver. Like the various powers in 4e.

Peerless Insight : Improving on previous class features is always easier to do than come up with brand new ones. This one feels a bit underwhelming but at the same time the reason I made Insight Dice stronger than Sneak Attack Dice is because you needed two attacks to activate them... this capstone ability essentially removes that caveat. The Warlord can basically let ANY of his ally attack with a D8 Sneak attack so I think it's a good DPS bonus.
The Insight dice would need to be 1.5 x then

Critical Target (1 dice or more) Select one ally within 30 feet. If that ally inflicts damage to the creature your Insight Dice were applied to, they gain temporary hit points equal to your Charisma modifier for each Insight Dice spent

I like the flavor of that.... you do something awesome and attaboy
