WotC "D&D's Best Year Yet"

It must be the NE alignment in me. It was much more satisfying to watch the teachers cross the name off for me.

Come to think of it, giving it to someone else would have been a deliciously evil trick to pull on some people i remember from back then.

I wish i had thought of THAT solid gold item. That would have been AWESOME.

We had a guy not to bright.

He saw us snorting "cocaine". It was baking soda. Teachers and cops searched our bags and found it. He narked us in so one if the other guys went and had a talk with him.

Also gave him detention, sent him to the contract room, and various other things.

We were only 14/15 young and stupid. The older guys did it to us so it kinda rolled down hill.
D&D group/chess club got to use the same room. "Drive by's" were popular where the borders would throw various things were popular. They cracked down on ninja stars being made in metalwork. Giving teenagers access to sheet metal and spot welders wasn't the best idea.

Javelins, cricket bats, chairs got used as weapons.

Also had agriculture subject. That added garden forks and shovels. My year only had one impalement with a javelin. That was technically an accident it hit the wrong target.

Olders brothers year had several.

Armory burned down in 1990. That got rid of the guns.

Your school would have been fun. A lot of stuff happened at mine, sure, but yours sounds like it was even more animated.

Kinda wish id been there.

No it wasn't really fun. I got roughed up on occasion but it broke some of the guys.

Ones spent the last 25 years mostly on welfare. Crappy homelife, got it worse at school. Never really had a chance. Couldn't even function in the army.

Dropout rate was close to 70%. 5 classrooms down to two final year 110 kids down to 40. It was decile 6 school (decile 1 poor, 10 rich suburb).

Cost me $2 to ransom a dice back and a brawl to get another one back.

As far as danger goes, sign me up. I thrive on chaos.

The only thing im iffy on is...it seems like it could definitely effect later educational opportunities if it was that bad of a school. Even if your scores are good.

Still got the dice set though. Gift from brother March 1994.

And I forget to mention all the others terrible flaws that this edition is afflicted : classes balance, feats and spells balance, the absence of a sane price list for magic item, the poor skill system, ...
I just can’t imagine the results if they have been fixed right from the start!
