D&D 5E Racial Feats for Shifter race

Strengthened Shifter
“You have learned to stretch out the instability of your Shifting Form to be able to last longer.”
• One ability score of your choice increases by 1 to a maximum of 20.
• You gain a second use of your Shifted Form. You regain this second use on a long rest.


That’s the only feat that I could think of. List any ideas that you have. Also if I need to know if this racial feat is broken.

Edit 1: Now the Feat gives a second use, and you gain the same amount of temporary hit points as normal instead of half.

If you use this second use you gain only half the temporary your level in temporary hit points.

That’s the only feat that I could think of. List any ideas that you have. Also if I need to know if this racial feat is broken.

I’d ditch the half THP part.

I would probably just make the duration of the shift "as long as you want", rather than a second use.

The problem with that is now the Wildhunt has advantage on Insight, Perception, Medicine, and Animal Handling Checks. All the Time.

From initial reading, I thought you were saying "You can stay Shifted for twice as long" not "You can Shift a second time". This is a wording problem, easy to resolve.

Would it be more interesting to do like some magic items and say "You get the Shifting ability for 5 min* per day, which must be spent in 30 sec increments. The timer resets on a long rest." ?

I'm not sure that would be overpowered, especially if you removed the half ASI.
