D&D 5E And just like that, no one cares about Frostmaiden any longer

To read them???
I guess if you are looking at it as a pure rules/direction manual, then I see your point. But, why would anyone look at an RPG book only through that lens is the question I have? Sorry if it was not worded correctly. So you are looking at it as only a direction manual, as in, I can add these new rules/powers to my build... I do not care about the lore, art, witty quotes, etc?

I mean I'm not interested in reading about it either.

That's not the issue. The issue is that you (general you) already paid for some of that content, and now are paying for it again. Especially true when you consider digital content where you can pay for sections of the book.

For example, I paid for the subclasses and races for Theros instead of the full book. Now I will be paying them again when I get the Tasha's book. In the grand scheme, that $10-$20 isn't much and I'm not all upset about it, but it is annoying on a level
I wonder if D&D Beyond will credit those subclasses and races against the price of Tasha's?

Obviously, folks who bought a paper copy of Theros are out of luck, but DDB is already set up to handle a la carte stuff.

Reprinting of player-facing options is A Thing this edition. If you aren’t used to it by now, I don’t know what to tell you. The next big book of player options? It’s gonna have reprints. The one after that? Reprints. Sorry if you don’t like it, but it’s part of their approach this edition.

Sorry. I'm just not getting it. So the only thing you buy the book for is to find a new spell, power, or subclass? Nothing else?

I mean I don't care about Ravnica or the Sword Coast as settings so I don't really care to read their fluff. I'm interested in Theros for exemple, and maybe after this stupid plague I might buy it and DM in it... but I'm not gonna spend money on a bunch of fluff I don't have much interest in that I could find summarized in a wiki, or mechanics that don't interest me either. I'm not made of money.

If I'm only a player then I don't care to buy DM books because that's not the world I'll be playing in anyway and I have no use for the fluff, especially if its a world I don't (like Ravnica). If I DM I'm not gonna buy books I don't have intention to use.

I sank too much into books I never used last edition, so I'm much more selective now. Heck, I didn't even buy Xanathar's yet.

The Swashbuckler was original in SCAG and then reprinted in Xanathar, no?
