D&D 5E DC in DnD: Superman

I made some small tweaks, manly breaking out traits into smaller pieces, which will make it easier when I am creating other characters. I also gave Superman the "Break Invulnerability" ability. This allows Superman to bypass invulnerability in other creatures (so for example when fighting other Kryptonians). I will also use this ability with other creatures like doomsday or darkseid to show why they can truly hurt the man of steel.

You are really doing a wonderful job, Stalker. I look forward to other entries.

For non-god-like beings, I would vote for you to build certain heroes as PCs instead of using the Monster stat block. I would love to see Batman, for example, as a PC.

I like Tulok the Barbarian's Youtube builds, which were mentioned earlier in the thread. Of course, he is not making the characters in question, but merely giving people guidance on how to use the D&D system to approximate those characters as inspiration. So, importantly, in using the standard point array for ability scores, he is not attempting to identify what the character's ability scores would be. Nevertheless, he comes up with some interesting builds. Also, he limits the build to 20th-level.

For Batman, he settles on 11th-level Rogue Inquisitive/9th-level Monk Kensai. Initially, I would have selected Monk Way of Shadow, but I think Tulok makes some good points for Kensai and comes up with a good build. It would be interesting to see what someone immersed in the DC lore such as yourself would do if trying to simply reproduce the stats of Batman rather than making a Batman-inspired character.

Keep up the fun work!

Thank you for the encouragement, getting the JL right in the face of so many fans is tough!

So with this series I decided early on to use monster stats instead of PCs. PC stats are simply too limiting to do proper "justice" to the league, they all possess way too many wacky abilities that I could never replicate with pc classes (and batman has some of the wackiest of them all). Monster design provides a lot more flexibility, and I think its the best way to accurately mimic the feats of the JL as close as possible.

You're the boss...but do check out how Tulok the Barbarian replicates some of Batman's abilities/tools...you probably already have done that, though.

Cheers!

I'm not a follower of superheroes, so I'll make only two observations:

First, a check is made only when the result is in doubt. Superman's power is unlimited when not contested. Therefore the result is never in doubt.

Second, I think you're too harsh on him when he doesn't have a source of sunlight. As I recall he doesn't lose all powers immediately; rather he gradually loses them until he's a normal person. He can still eat and drink normally, after all. In HERO System terms, his powers and super-stats run off a massive END Battery with a high REC. In D&D terms, perhaps you might just have him lose his Superior Recovery and invulnerability and then gradually more powers if he's been unable to complete a Short or Long rest in sunlight.
