I understand that, but it isn't just subjective vs. objective. There's also inter-subjectivity, or that which exists between multiple minds, as well as what could be described as "depths" or "levels" of subjectivity, based upon a variety of factors such as aesthetic intelligence, knowledge, experience, etc.Sure. Certainly there are things that are objective. There are even things about art that are objective - for example, the elf’s cloak is objectively green. But the quality of art is absolutely not objective.
Take ice cream. One could argue that objectively, two brands of ice cream are just that: ice cream. They're composed of milk and/or cream, sugar, possibly eggs, and various flavorings. If you like one more than the other, your subjective preference is no more or less valid. On one level, that's true, in the sense that personal preference is always "right" - it is what it is. But that excludes any kind of inclusion of recipe, ingredients, texture, flavor, or culinary sense. Ben & Jerry's uses higher quality ingredients than America's Choice, and for the ice cream connoisseur is much better.
