Pathfinder 1E Pathfinder 1.5 rumblings: Corefinder

Dire Bare

Legend
I just saw on the Paizo forums claims that Legendary Games is planning to release a 1.5 style edition of Pathfinder under the working title Corefinder. The following text was apparently taken from Legendary Games' Discord.
This was, perhaps, inevitable. But no thanks, not interested. I'd rather play Pathfinder 1E or 2E than almost-Pathfinder.

EDIT: I'm being unnecessarily harsh, sorry. Nothing wrong with what's essentially a hack on a specific ruleset. The OSR crowd does it all the time and they have a grateful community. But I do find it hard to get excited about a hack of Pathfinder which is a hack of D&D 3E . . . . I'm pretty happy with D&D 5E. Hope Legendary finds it's market/community for Corefinder and folks have fun playing.

Hey, no worries man. There is no game product or system that is for everyone. That is one of the early lessons for anyone wanting to go into this as a business, the ancient truth that different people like different things. There's plenty of room in the world for all kinds of fans, and we'll continue to make amazing products for PF1 and PF2 and 5E and Starfinder in addition to our Corefinder project. Each of them hits different niches, and for lots of people those overlap and for others they don't.

I appreciate you chiming in and hope you check out our stuff for the systems you do enjoy. Merry Christmas and Happy Gaming!

I am actually pretty excited about Corefinder. I am not a fan of D&D 5E or PF2E and I am looking for a new direction for my creative energies. Pathfinder 1E is easily my favorite RPG of all time, Corefinder could possibly supplant it.

I wish I could keep up with the Patreon updates, but since I collect disability and I am not able to manage my own money, I have no card to bank or credit card to use to support my favorite creators. Wishing you all the best though!

I crit!
What is it about 3.5 and Pathfinder 1 prep that soaks so much time? Could that be fixed and leave everything else alone? Say if monsters no longer followed PC rules? Or is that a deal breaker?

does this mean these manuevers can be tried by anyone and we are doing away with requiring feats for such things?
Yes. They only provoke on a critical failure, and in some cases they get stronger effects on critical success and/or using the same maneuver more than once.

That's been an interesting question in the course of our rules conversations both on the designers' side and in conversation with fans. For some people it is and for other it isn't. Some people love the idea of having a more facile monster design system; others feel like losing the "PCs and monsters work alike" core philosophy of 3.x/PF would lose a key essence of what makes that system feel like it does.
