D&D 5E New D&D Hardcover To Be Announced On The 23rd (Tomorrow)?

According to this page on Amazon.com, a new Dungeon & Dragons hardcover title for May will be announced tomorrow. Users in the US see the product below (those in the UK are seeing a Wizkids miniatures set instead).

So far signs look like Ravenloft, but we’ll know for sure tomorrow.

I do wonder why TSR and WotC never gave us an official witch. It's likely too late to get a subclass or standalone class version for this one, but it would fit and feels like a huge continuing oversight from the company.

As far back as the 1E era, two of the most iconic articles in Dragon magazine, referenced in a number of DM Guild products today, were witch write-ups. And that was well before witches became popular as a spiritual tradition/ideal for modern New Age practitioners.

If EGG were still alive and posting on this board, I would love to ask him why that never happened. They even showed up in an illustration in OD&D, plus another piece of unpublished art that showed up, as I recall, in Art & Arcana.

I wish it were Castle Amber instead of more Ravenloft. But since they licensed that out already, I doubt it's that. If it's Ravenloft, I wish it would be picking up where the last book left off in levels, so you can take that campaign to level 20. But I also doubt that will happen as people don't see to buy high levels as much these days.

You could always head on over to Goodman Games and pick up their OAR of Castle Amber.

Id appreciate some new Ravenloft for rules more than setting info unless they are going to do a proper shakeup, ditch some of the more boring or unsalvageable cringe realms.

Van Richten's Guide to the Mists

• Player Options - New archetypes, new lineages
• Guide to Vistani
• Guide to Vampires
• Guide to Ghosts
• Guide to Lycanthropes
• Guide to the Ancient Dead (mummies, liches)
• Guide to Fiends (demons, devils)
• Guide to the Created (golems)
• EDIT: Guide to Witches (witches, warlocks, and hags)

Each major chapter would give some new creature stats, items, spells . . . but would focus on how to run these types of creatures in a horror campaign, based on the original "Van Richten's Guide" series. Except the Vistani, that section would reinvent them to drop the racist gypsy/Roma tropes and present the culture in how they relate to the horrors of the mists . . . .

EDIT: Added a chapter for witches! This would also require a guide to the classic horror of witches and hags, but . . . . with an attempt to remove the ageism and misogyny inherent in the tropes (powerful females are evil, old and ugly females are evil)

I don't think it will be quite this, but . . . . one can hope! Well, unless you're trapped in the Realms of Dread!

Undead are my favorite monsters and one of my go-to creatures when I'm creating a dungeon (the other is Kobolds).

Please don't toy with my emotions like this. I'd love it if this is what we got.

Rip out the Ravenloft setting pages, print out and insert the Plane Shift: Innistrad pages, and I suspect it would work almost entirely as an actual Innistrad book.

It would be smart of WotC to look to Innistrad for monsters and spells not previously appearing in Ravenloft, both to make this book something other than yet another retread of past material, and to satisfy fans like you.

Sorry, I was unclear. I don't care for a gothic horror setting whether it is Ravenloft or Innistrad (if that is the same - not really familiar with MtG).
