D&D 5E Van Richten Domains to Scale

Just out of curiosity, I wanted to see how big the mapped and scaled domains in Van Richten's were compared to one another. The tiny domain in the upper left corner is Barovia!

Well, Darkon was always the biggest core domain, and it seems that hasn't changed despite the absence of the core.

I've been noodling making one, but not sure that makes sense.....I really want to use it in a campaign, at least as a side distraction, more likely as the main story, but it is not easy....
The older maps of Bluetspur weren't super detailed. The original was just a mountainous area a little bigger than Barovia. The one in Domains of Dread was actually even less detailed, although it expanded the size of the domain so that it was 400 miles across (larger than the whole of the old Core). The current description describing the surface as filled with alien ruins would be interesting to map out. Depending on your campaign you could even introduce some sci-fi elements to the setting with those ruins.

For sure.....it's more about the thread I started....to what end? I'd think a Bluestspur campaign would be about rescuing someone/thing from the domain....maybe learning about alien tech (hmmmm....maybe I should combine it with Arcana of the Ancients).

I have some of the older stuff, ya, not much to the maps for good reason, I'd think.

Sadly no, but it's understandable given their description of the domain. It's described as being continent-sized, which is quite the upgrade from the older version of the domain where it was barely bigger than Barovia!

Whoa, continent sized? So I guess those mind flayers are sitting pretty if they rule a whole continent to themselves, even if they're cursed to live there.

It'd be an awesome way to incorporate some of the material from Arcana of the Ancients. Toss in some of the monsters from Beasts of Flesh and Steel to boot. Going along with that idea of rescuing someone, there was an old 4e Dragon mag adventure where technologically advanced mind flayers were kidnapping people for experiments and transporting them to the moon. Enter the PCs to solve these alien abductions!
