So you want WOTC to start running Adventure League in nursing homes and Senior centers to get more older people to play?
A few dozen, maybe. I don't think it's going to be a big deal for most people. How many pros were getting a "sustainable living" anyway, unless they had a side gig writing for SCG or something similar?
Older gamers have more power within the gaming industry, not less.Maybe I am misunderstanding what you're saying. But, from the look of it, don't think that's fair. Ageism, which is specifically an issue of older people (who get replaced in jobs by younger people, targeted by scammers as a higher proportion, and in general subjected to more discrimination in society than younger people due to their age) is a protected minority class. Laws, like the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, are passed to protect the elderly specifically because they are members of a protected class. Men, as a classification, are not a protected class. It is in fact more akin to people celebrating a decrease in the number of women playing, since gender and specifically sexism targeted to women is a protected class for reasons which are similar to agism targeted at older people.
In all seriousness, I'm starting to wonder if in my senior years I'll go back to playing D&D or other games like I was able to as a teenager. I'll have more time on my hands and I'm sure my wife won't want me sticking around the house. So you want WOTC to start running Adventure League in nursing homes and Senior centers to get more older people to play?
In my opinion, older gamers do not have more power within the gaming industry. Indeed, that's the complaint you're responding to initially: older gamers feel they have less power in the industry than younger players, and feel WOTC is catering to younger people with the game right now at the expense of the interests of many older gamers. For economic reasons surely, but I think that's likely the tone you're picking up on here.Older gamers have more power within the gaming industry, not less.
Also gender is protected, not a specific gender.
If that were even remotely true they wouldn't have published EXPLORER'S GUIDE TO WILDEMOUNT let alone entirely rewritten RavenloftOlder gamers have more power within the gaming industry, not less.

WizCo doesn't give even half a naughty word about older gamers any more. It's all about the kids
