Maybe I am misunderstanding what you're saying. But, from the look of it, don't think that's fair. Ageism, which is specifically an issue of older people (who get replaced in jobs by younger people, targeted by scammers as a higher proportion, and in general subjected to more discrimination in society than younger people due to their age) is a protected minority class. Laws, like the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, are passed to protect the elderly specifically because they are members of a protected class. Men, as a classification, are not a protected class. It is in fact more akin to people celebrating a decrease in the number of women playing, since gender and specifically sexism targeted to women is a protected class for reasons which are similar to agism targeted at older people.
Older gamers have more power within the gaming industry, not less.

Also gender is protected, not a specific gender.

In my opinion, older gamers do not have more power within the gaming industry. Indeed, that's the complaint you're responding to initially: older gamers feel they have less power in the industry than younger players, and feel WOTC is catering to younger people with the game right now at the expense of the interests of many older gamers. For economic reasons surely, but I think that's likely the tone you're picking up on here.

Ageism towards older people is definitely more comparable to sexism towards women than it is the reverse as you'd proposed. It's in fact the same group of laws. Sometimes even the same law is covering both.

While gender is protected, the laws were passed due to sexism towards women. Because it was mostly women who were being discriminated against, particularly in employment matters. Same as older people were being discriminated against in employment matters.

So we have come to the point of the thread where calling someone 'grognard' is ageism and discrimination. I figure I would catch up any latecomers to the thread.
More young people is a good thing. A large over 40 age group is a good thing. Grognard gets tossed around as a pejorative and as a badge of pride. D&D is going to be around after we leave this plane and head to the outer plane of our destiny. That is also a good thing.

If that were even remotely true they wouldn't have published EXPLORER'S GUIDE TO WILDEMOUNT let alone entirely rewritten Ravenloft
WizCo doesn't give even half a Duck about older gamers any more. It's all about the kids

Watch the language, please.

So you want WOTC to start running Adventure League in nursing homes and Senior centers to get more older people to play?
There's nothing stopping people from running AL there
Always people talking about gaming in nursing homes. Which does happen. It's even a meme.

Imagine the barrier is most gamers don't have the healthy lifestyle that allows one to end up in a nursing home rather than dying of a stroke or massive heart attack at 64
That and kids have a ton of disposable income. Those in a home don't and are unlikely to buy the newest rules rather than their favorite old edition

First: Language.

Second. This older gamer (me) seems to think that the current crop of products fit my interest just fine. I think that you are just living up to your screen name and projecting your disgruntledness on older gamers as a whole. I see no reason that Wildemount wouldn't have gotten published with older gamers having power within the industry. Just because people are older doesn't mean that they want to endlessly retread what has come before and don't look for something new and novel. Also, VRGtR hasn't enitrely rewritten Ravenloft.
