The leak looks a little suspicious with a Strixhaven UA dropping tomorrow. That would have spoiled some of this. I guess they might scramble and move up the release of the UA, but it seems this week is proceeding almost like it was planned out...

Or the UA could have been originally meant to be “scrubbed” of identifying content. Like most of the other UAs?

Unlikely; they were always going to make a big announcement on Wednesday's Dragon Talk, at the very least. We knew that something big would be discussed. We didn't know they'd do a week of promotion for these books, and I wonder whether the week of promotion would have been later like in July around the Con, if they hadn't been leaked now. But I don't think they would have hidden the Strixhaven identifiers if they were announcing it on Wed; I think they just would have released the UA on Thursday if so.

Unlikely based on what? Exactly? I mean the past UAs were unbranded and left out obviously identifying content before. What evidence do you have they were planning on doing that any differently, before the leak?

Looking at that two-page spread cover art, there's something almost familiar to the composition that I can't quite pin down. But I'm getting strong hints of Bradbury's The October Country / Dark Carnival and Something Wicked This Way, along with a touch of Stranger Things (or similar pieces focusing on that 80's era) with that kid (?) following the butterfly-winged displacer beast to discover a carnival in the clearing. Whereas the way the tophat-wearing shadar-kai (?) is posed remains me of the cover to Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell. And the two-page alternate cover has a scarily familiar composition to some softcover science fiction/fantasy book I read in the late 80's maybe – even the taupe / off white color feels like they're evoking that nostalgic era that Stranger Things taps into.
