So, it has been a while since I've run anything since D&D and, so, I'm wanting to steer clear of that for a bit. I've been brainstorming some campaign ideas in the past few week and was wondering what other folks thought of them. So, without further ado...

1. Literal monsters working for a super-secret government agency investigate supernatural weirdness around the US in the 1970s and 1980s (using Palladium's Nightbane). Heavy influence from the "Spookhouse" (as seen in the old PC game Nocturne) and, to a lesser degree, the BPRD (from Hellboy).

2. Luchador movie weirdness (using Lucha Libre Hero). A traveling band of up and coming lucha libre wrestlers fight supernatural threats in between wrestling dark matches in Mexico and the southwestern US during the late 1950s and early 1960s.

3. Pulp heroes fight weird menaces and cults around the world in the 1920s (using CoC d20 + house rules for pulping it up). This will likely consist of converting classic CoC modules, then pulping them up with some proper two-fisted action.

4. Epic samurai saga in feudal Japan. Of all the options, this is the only one that would use a pre-written campaign out of the box (play would be using FGU's Bushido second edition rules).

Which of these sounds the most interesting to you?

[Edit: D'oh! I typed "NIghtbreed" - I meant "NightBANE".]

Have you considered using Pulp Cthulhu? It's a simple rules add-on for CoC and should be much easier to convert classic adventures. Not to mention it's in print and inexpensive to buy.

I already own CoC d20 and funds are limited, so buying back into BRP CoC (I don't presently own any BRP CoC rulebooks) isn't really an option at present. Plus, I feel that CoC d20 is much pulpier out of the box than BRP CoC is (although I haven't read Pulp Cthulhu). It's also easier for me to hack d20 material and the Gamemaster's Pack has conversion guidelines for classic BRP.

Before things fell apart, one guy in our gaming group was going to run a campaign something like #1 using Monster of the Week. I ws going to be playing a Fallen Angel…

I voted Lucha Libre since it could be a fun time to get into the spirit of roleplay. I would likely get called out for stereotyping and cultural appropriation though.
