Area 3 d) is the same as 3 c). That's just a typo on my end.

I also placed the columns next to the walkway. I figured some characters (or NPCs) may use the columns to climb down/up.

Cheers,
Tim

Ooh, I hadn't thought of that. Guess it depends on what I put down in that lower level...

Here is the August 20th, 2021 Friday Freebie map. I'm still playing with the multi-level theme. Click to enlarge.

Map Details:
  • Grid Size: 36x46 10' Squares (72 dpi); VTT Size: 1229x1578
  • The dash lines are elevation lines (showing the lower elevation in relation to the upper level).
  • Areas 1 a), e), f), and g) are at a higher elevation than areas 1 c). The two sides of the upper level are connected via an old bridge at area 1 b).
  • Areas 1 d), 9 b), c), 13 a), c), d), e), and 25 a) have false doors.
  • Area 1 f) has a slope trap. Those that walk on the shaded area run a risk of being dumped to the lower elevation of 1 c).
  • Areas 1 f), 10 d), 16 c), and 25 b) have statues.
  • Areas 1 c), 2, 6 b), 16 a), and 22 a) have pillars.
  • Areas 6 b), 24, and 25 b) have daises/raised platforms.
  • Area 6 b) has a portal to another location (a different dungeon, world, astral plane, etc.).
  • Area 10 has tapestries.
  • Areas 10 d), 13 d), 16 c), 22 b), and h) have covered pit traps.
  • Area 12 has a small natural pool of water that has seeped into the dungeon.
  • Area 17 b) has a pool/fountain.
  • Area 22 a) has a shaded path winding through it.
  • Areas c), d), e), f), and g) have open pits/wells. Who knows where they lead?
  • Area 25 b) has a throne/chair.

Here is the August 27th, 2021 Friday Freebie map. Click to enlarge.

Map Details:
  • Grid Size: 36x46 10' Squares (72 dpi); VTT Size: 1229x1578
  • The grey areas represent water and the white areas are air pockets. I envision some sort of barrier that keeps the water from flooding the air pockets but allows movement through it (for example, a shark could breach the air pocket to try to snag a meal from someone who is too close to the edge). I picture the top of the dungeon opening up to the water above (with a few exceptions like areas 32, 33, 41, and 42). Depending on how much light (if any) filters down from the water’s surface, the air pockets could easily have a claustrophobic atmosphere to them.
  • Areas 1 and 39 have portals. The portal at area 1 is the entrance and the portal at area 39 is the exit.
  • Areas 3 a) to 3 c) are kelp forests (perfect hiding place for both hunter and prey).
  • Areas 39, 41 b), and 42 b) have statues.
  • Areas 39 and 42 b) have raised platforms/daises.
  • The arrow (just before area 41 a) represents a downward slope.

JUST IN TIME! I need a town for my cephalopod people for my players to visit. It's 50% that either they will visit the cephalo people, or go do White Plume Mountain. Best for me to be prepared. I plan to have those people living in the underwater area 4-38 of all the small rooms.

Will next week be an expansion on this one?

Sorry, but no. I'm currently going with a four elements (elemental planes) theme for the next batch of maps so next week's theme is air (followed by fire and then earth). After that, who knows.

Cheers,
Tim

Oh that sounds cool too. I look forward to those. And it's ok on this one, it's pretty perfect as it is.

Here is the September 3rd, 2021 Friday Freebie map. Click to enlarge.

Map Details:
  • Grid Size: 36x46 10' Squares (72 dpi); VTT Size: 1229x1578
  • This map represents a pocket dimension that is connected to the Elemental Plane of Air. The dungeon looks down at the endless sky below.
  • Areas 1 a), 4 b), and 28 b) have statues.
  • Area 1 b) and 28 b) have raised platforms/daises.
  • Area 1 b) has an entrance portal. Area 28 b) has the exit portal.
  • Areas 1 b), 18 b), and 28 a) have pillars.
  • Areas 2, 4 a), 10, 11, 13, 17, 29, 30, 31, 32, and various unnumbered spots have walkways. In some places the walkways are attached to the dungeon walls and other cases they just hang in the air without any visible means of support.
  • Area 9 b) has a pool/fountain.

While the map can be used as is, it takes a new dimension when the various locations are at different heights. The following map shows an example of these varied heights. A location that is rated as +2 is 10 ft. above an area listed as +1 and 20 ft. above an area listed as ±0. Click to enlarge.
