Just a spontaneous working idea I might come back to in a couple of days after a long work week;

Soul gems "similar" to Skyrim. This is a rough outline of thoughts, please give any/all inputs*

*what was that acronym we used to label threads with that meant "review and critique fairly"?

It's similar to the Phantom rogue's Tokens of the Departed. With that feature the soul tokens created by the phantom rogue from a dying creature's spirit give advantage on constitution and death saving throws and allows a use of the rogue's Wails from the Grave feature for free on a successful sneak attack.

I'm not sure WotC could adopt Soul Gems due to copyright reasons but I like the idea and they could probably expand the soul trinkets concept into some form similar to the soul gems.

Does "that they kill" mean that their group kills or literally that they personally deliver the killing blow on? I've had two different characters with killing blow weapons and, unless you are "farming souls" by purposely killing things for the sake of whatever the magic item does, actually being the one to deliver a deathblow is very streaky.

Are they a consumable like in Skyrim, or are they rechargeable?

I was going for consumable, so in theory they "could" be balanced by price and availability.

Good question on the kill...
