D&D 5E D&D Celebration Schedule

From September 23-26, the D&D community comes together for D&D Celebration – a weekend celebrating the release of The Wild Beyond the Witchlight, and previewing Fizban’s Treasury of Dragons (Oct 19) and Strixhaven: A Curriculum of Chaos (Nov 16)!

The first official D&D musical? The cast of Star Trek: Discovery rolling the d20s? This year’s D&D Celebration will offer fans a front row seat to watch all that and more as hilarious Dungeon Masters lead adventures in a slate of side-splitting virtual games including:

- Disco Does D&D
o Cast members from Star Trek: Discovery Anthony Rapp, Mary Wisemann, Blu del Barrio, Ian Alexander, and special guest Wil Wheaton, play D&D with Noah Averbach-Katz at the helm as DM

- The Circus of Sound – a D&D Musical
o The long-awaited D&D musical event starring Anthony Rapp, Jason Charles Miller, Azie Dungey, Vico Ortiz, and Mariah Rose Faith with Kelly Lynne D’Angelo as DM

- The Slapstick Hunt: A Silly Chase
o DM Amy Vorpahl leads cast members from The Guild, Sandeep Parikh, Vince Caso, Robin Thorsen, Amy Okuda, and Jeff Lewis on a comedic adventure through the multiverse

- The Dungeon & The Dragon
o An unlikely band of monsters are assembled to help a wronged dragon track down the heroes who stole her hoard with Alicia Marie, Deborah Ann Woll, Todd Stashwick, Patrick Rothfuss, and Matthew Lillard playing as monsters and B. Dave Walters as DM

- The Great Dragon Tourney

the product is $222cad on Amazon.ca, but it allows you to apply a promo code save10 to it to save 10%, although it's a text book promo code when you spend $100 or more which is odd. Could these be somekind of D&D text books?

I think that's just the price in Canadian $. I see $165.

ANYWAY, its entirely possible this is just a placeholder price, which I've seen before. If it's not, it almost definitely won't be a "Forgotten Realms 3-Books Setting." That would put it out-of-budget for a ton of potential buyers, and that is not the D&D Team's MO. If they want to update FR, they would do it in a normally priced book format to maximize it's sales.

So, as surprised as I am by this... I guess this really could be updated core rule books. I assume they'll also be sold separately, unless they're like Anniversary Versions or something weird.

I'm betting on a Darksun. The setting doesnt work all that well with the original PHB, so it would require its own set of classes, foes and setting info. probably more that a single setting could handle.

That's the setting I had in mind when I said I still wouldn't drop that much on even my favorite setting. When/if they get around to Dark Sun it will likely be in the same way they did Eberron, Exandria, or Ravenloft. Either one setting book with subclasses or an adventure to boot. I can't see them doing a $170 box / slipcase for Dark Sun.

But I keep my fingers crossed for a revised corebooks slipcase. Ideally with less boring monsters and a DMG with some kind of attempt at organization.

No Psion Class UA so I find it being Darksun doubtful, plus Darksun is one of the smaller D&D settings, it wouldn't need 3 books the size of the Core Set books to update it.

I expect the announcement of either 5.5e or 6e, and some new splatbooks for neglected content.

There's very little chance it's 6E. Sales are still increasing for 5E. A revision is less risky and more likely.

Yes CAD is Canadian Dollars, USD is American Dollars.

If it is an FR setting box set, I imagine they would also release each book more affordably as individual books as well, this would be the gift box collector version.

But as I said I think it's 75% most likely it's 5.5e.

Or there's always my dream product - a huge coffee table sized Monster Manual, including monsters from other sources, with added art and lore.

Yes but a MAJOR, but still fully compatible revision. As seen in Witchlight races take up way less room as the broadly common elements are centralized. When you take out the universal race stuff the Harengon and Fairy took 1.5 pages between them at most. Even with a deeper race dive it'd be what 2 pages each. Lots of room for more races. I expect effiencies will allow them to add a ton of stuff to each of the core books.

VGTM, MToF, and FToD are too small to justify such a high price even for all three of them.

Ah, I haven't been following 5E's sale numbers since I stopped buying new books, but I'm not surprised to hear that its success has been consistent.

I do expect a revision of some sort, it seems both fitting for the occasion and direly needed.

I'm wondering beyond changes to races and classes what they could add to the PHB and MM. More races? Artificer? more subclasses? Subraces? Piety and Faction systems, more Gods in the Appendix?
