Oh, it's WAY more than that. But this isn't about crime, per se, as the state hasn't filed any charges. This is a lawsuit.
Okay. I guess I haven't seen the actual complaint yet. What is the lawsuit over, exactly?

I see what looks like at first blush two people spending time and money on trips. Also, one or two people on salary that might be overly generous. Is it a whistleblower is calling people out for being inappropriate with the business' money?

NB: Okay, I read the news article linked by Ancalagon and that clears up what the complaints are.

So... what's the alleged crime here? Misappropriation of funds?
This is a civil suit, so no crime is involved here. The portions involving Luke as member of the Board of Directors are that he went on a trip with the CEO to Eastern Europe on the company dime, and as an alleged member of the board he isn't supposed to receive any compensation other than the board stipend, and that Garycon and Applecon received funds from Servotronics when there's no business reason for that to happen.

I will say this, though. I've seen instances where shady CEOs have listed people in corporate officer positions without their knowledge. At this point Luke may or may not have been a real board of directors member, which is one reason why I want to see that Answer. If Luke isn't a real board member, the Answer should lay that out as a defense.

The lawsuit is definitely an interesting read. One of the tidbits...

"340. Pirrone knew Miller well. She was the woman who was a part of the pagan“bonding ceremony” in Ohio several years prior, when Pirrone was ordered by Trbovich to“stand guard” outside the “sex tent” while Trbovich consummated his pagan marriage to Miller."

You don't see that everyday in a lawsuit.

Well...Heidi and Elise are still both wonderful people, and totally scandal free!

(I admit my bias. I like Luke, so I'm a bit shocked at these allegations; he seems like he's a pretty sharp guy (unlike his brother, yeesh), and I wouldn't expect him to have been engaged in these things)

Maybe a little too sharp?

The news here is that a bunch of guys in power abused that power, and did so to differing degrees. Well, I guess news was a bit strong of a word.

It's kinda painful to say it, but it looks like this is whole plot is essentially a bunch of family drama. Apparently, Ken "Turbo" Trbovitch is a CEO because it's a company his father started. There were a bunch of lawsuits in 2012 to oust Ken's brother Nicholas and put Ken in charge of the family business, followed by more retaliation suits and settlements in 2017. Ugg. Likewise, we're really only talking about this here because Luke Gygax is Gary's son, and a bunch of the allegations surround a convention celebrating EGG.

My family may have drama, but at least it doesn't make the news.

Privilege and senses of entitlement are heady things. I'm sure Trbovitch thought he was entitled to do what he did, in no small part, because his father started the company.

When I went to GaryCon a few years back, my youngest kid and I were accosted by a very drunk guy who got in my face and asked "Do you know who I am?" as if, for some reason, I should. Turned out to be the son of a well-known game designer, and he obviously thought that should mean something to me. But he's basically a nobody, just with a sense of entitlement based on being the son of someone who did something famous in the hobby. That and about $5 gets you a venti soy chai latte at Starbucks.
