I owned the original Hunter book but I never had the opportunity to play it. I kind of liked how they incorporated the internet. Back then, most people didn't have high speed internet and it wasn't quite so ubiquitous as it is today. It's been a long while, but there was some mysterious power on the internet that allowed Hunters to communicate with one another without fear of being monitored by other supernatural forces.

I hope they learned from their mistakes. Vampire 5th edition has plenty of positives, but it has one of the worst editing I've seen in a TTRPG book. I heard newer releases were better.

I find it odd that they’re ditching the whole Imbued narrative and yet still calling it Hunter the Reckoning. It’s going to be a significantly different game, using the old title is just going to annoy people.

Was that something they added when they did the nWoD version of Hunter? I only played the original and do not remember anything about this imbued stuff.

Nah, Imbued were the original OWoD (Reckoning) hunters. Glowy magic powers and the ability to see monsters, granted by never-detailed Messengers to people who stood up to be counted against critters in moments of crisis. The NWod Hunter (the Vigil) had a few different weird conspiracies you could join and which gave you monster-fightin' powerz, but there was no single source of the abilities, like the Imbued had.

There was the aaaaancient Hunters Hunted book, which covered relatively normal people. I think that got a re-do in recent years, but I haven't really paid close attention for a while.

Yeah, OWoD HtR was all about the Imbued. NWoD HtV was very different. Now, I can understand why they’d want to drop the Imbued. They weren’t everyone’s cup of tea, and going with more “normal” hunters has various advantages, but I think they’d be better off using a different name. Too much of the Reckoning brand is associated with the Imbued.

We can't forget the Dark Age. They weren't really imbued but therew was some game mechanics close to the powers of the hunters.

I am yet waiting the translation of the Changeling: Player's Guide and Wraith: the Oblivion(20A). I have bought some 20Anniversary books and I am happy with these, but I buy this new edition of Hunter it will be because I want a compilation of crunch and factions, not the same lore with some new pieces of crunch.

And Hunter: the Recocking is perfect to be adapted for action-live production for no-fandom audence.
