Level Up (A5E) So where do ya'll plan to start with LU?

Have you been to LevelUp5E.com yet?
Speaking of resources... I'm looking at the sample character and Zidi has a "fey servant" background. I'm guessing that this is a sample of how to back your own background? I don't recall seeing it on the list of backgrounds that was revealed earlier. That gremlin curse sounds definitely interesting.

I'm honestly not sure. I was thinking that I might start by skimming through the magic items and hit the adventures guide but I might skim classes &archetypes then go through memories before going deeper into things.
I noticed that the bookmarks in trials & treasure are a little..... off....

Giving my boy the warlock a thorough examination, followed by the rogue and maybe the druid... then feats... Once I'm done playing with the favored parts of my new toys I'll read through the rest of the books.
That's what I'm doing right now. Since I'm currently playing a Warlock in 5E, I figure A5E would have something more to offer--spoiler: it does, and it's pretty great.

The tough thing here is that not everyone is going to have the system, so my plan as a DM is to just use the stuff I can use, like the exploration pillar stuff, treasure tables, monsters, etc, and hope others come around quickly to the rest of it.

I've already been thinking a good bit about starting my first LU game with Ghosts of Saltmarsh, hopefully leading into the Slave Lords. That's one of the good things about being something of a Grog- there's a whole generation of players out there that haven't seen all the classics yet...

I will add, rangers have always been my favorite class, but also the least useful to a large degree, because wilderness exploration and adventuring is so commonly glossed over. NO LONGER! :D

I’m interested to see what people can do with the new exploration rules. Cause they didn’t really impress me From what I could see. Seemed like more like better Fleshed out survival rules with more non combat stuff on random encounter tables. Which the people that find existing O5e explore rules pointless and boring will still find pointless and boring. If you’re playing a prewritten story heavy point crawl game there is nothing you can do to make the space between the points interesting. It’s all meaningless struggle for the players. You have to play a more emergent storyline style game to make random exploration interesting. No amount of awesome random tables can make exploration matter if the game is about a different story. It’s on the gm/dm to make the places in between connect and matter to the plot, if it’s a plot game, which most people play.
