D&D 5E Dragons of Stormwreck Isle: New D&D Starter Set Is Coming This Year

Hasbro has posted a short video which highlights its 2022 portfolio of brands, including toys and games, and in it can be seen images of a D&D Starter Set called Dragons of Stormwreck Isle. The cover feature a blue dragon breathing lightning.

Critical Role's Call of the Netherdeep also appears briefly.

In this press release, Hasbro lists the boxed set with a retail price of $49.99, which seems very high for a starter set.

I'd love if this was essentially the "Basic Set" to transition to D&D 5.5/TNG/New Horizons. Squinting at those character sheets - do they look blank? If so, perhaps character gen is included?

Is the $50 price tag in the video? I did not see it. Where is everyone getting this from? I know Wizards has said there will be price increases coming this year, but compared to $20 (for the original Starter Set) or $25.00 (for the Essentials Kit), $50 seems really steep, far greater than inflation and supply chain woes would warrant. Unless this new set comes with more content than it appears to.

~20% cumulative inflation would add about $4.

Could be going to higher levels with real chargen and serve as a 50AE preview, or could just be a typo.

I think there is a reason they try to hold down the price on this...and then hook people to buy all those books.

But if the essentials kit is selling for $13, and this is next to it selling for $50, I think most causal consumers will choose the former.
This won't sell for $50 on Amazon, obviously. As noted uptrend, if you bought the Starter Set and Essentials Kit for MSRP you'd be paying $45. So, this is probably a larger box set.
