Elvis movie 2022

It's a Baz Luhrmann film. Tom Hanks in a fat suit. It should be chock full of Elvis music. I'm not a Baz Luhrmann fan, but this looks like a movie I could get into.

It cracked me up. After she said it I looked for pictures. I saw one with LBJ in a similar hat. They were common in that era. Haven't found that picture again, but I did find this one.

Colonel Tom Parker

This is who he's playing in the movie.

I always found the honorific of Colonel to be interesting. I knew for the longest time it wasn't an actual military title.

There is also the association of Kentucky Colonels. I believe Tom Parker was one of those as was Harlan Sanders ie KFC's founder Col. Sanders.

The Wikipedia article says he was given his title in Louisiana. You are right about Colonel Sanders and Kentucky. It seems to be a Southern thing mostly, looking at the list of states that do it.
