Something That Soured My Interest In The New Morbius Movie

The screenwriters for Morbius (Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless) also wrote Dracula Untold and Gods of Egypt.

If you enjoyed those movies, everyone is entitled to their personal preferences.

I predict however that there's going to be a ton of distancing from this movie for the Sony and Marvel Studio movies at large, and if we see Morbius in the MCU, it'll probably be a reboot for the character.

I hear not-so-good things about the direction and editing too.

I could be wrong since I haven't seen the movie, but my instincts as a writer and aspiring filmmaker tell me to avoid this movie unless it shows up on my streaming without extra charge.

I can't imagine having any interest in this movie, myself. I don't quite understand why Sony thinks it can just do half-baked Spider-Man spin-offs without Spider-Man. I get that Morbius, as a concept, doesn't really need to be a Spider-Man character, but then, without him, he's just another take on a modern Dracula mixed with Dr Jekyll.

I think a good angle to approach Morbius would have been to explore science versus the supernatural, with supernatural enemies that force Morbius to use his skills as a scientist to thwart their plot while fighting them with his powers as a living vampire; this could have been a possible set up for his inclusion in a future MIDNIGHT SONS team up instead of a half-assed rendition of the Sinister Six in an ambiguously designated Spiderman universe.

Pretty much everything, from the star of the film on down, leaves me cold. I can't really say that I've enjoyed Leto's performance in anything.

Thats too bad, I've loved Leto in everything. This looks mediocre tho.
