D&D 5E Banewarrens 5e is here!

For those who have it, do you need Ptolus to really make use of this? How much setting info is included?
I think you are good, except a lot of NPCs and magic items are not statted here (and a few monsters, I think), but referenced to the Ptolus book.....so, ya, that's an issue for sure.

Any specific concerns (I've only skimmed it so far)?

There is a lot of setting info and detail (as you'd expect from what is largely still an old module with A LOT of cleanup, but which is largely still the same as it was).

I asked because it might have value to me as a planet-of-the-week Spelljammer adventure, but it would be nice if it gave me enough setting info to get by. I don't want to run out and buy Ptolus in order to run it.
Check out the free 32 page Ptolus Player's Guide from the 3e era for a bunch of the narrative basics.

My group used Ptolus as a setting when there was just the 3.0 Banewarrens module way before the giant setting book came out.

This is an issue of interest for me.

I have the 3.5 Banewarrens and the 3.5 full Ptolus Setting PDFs. 5e is my system of choice right now but I did not get the 5e version of the setting. If I were to want to run Banewarrens in 5e and got the 5e module would I still be on my own for statblocks for monsters and adversarial NPCs? What would getting the 5e version of the module give me that is not already there for me in my 3.5 version?

Yes, you are still on your own for statblocks. There are a whopping 4 in this PDF.....not to mention all the magic spells and items, many of which are references to the 5e Ptolus book (there are a score or so of magic items described in this book).

To answer your question, not much. No updated maps or art or anything, really. Plenty of new sidebars for the Cipher system :)

That's unfortunate.

Useful to know, thanks.

I'm currently running The Banewarrens. We're about halfway through. It's been a blast. I'm using my old 3E copy and we're playing Shadow of the Demon Lord. I like 5E, but it doesn't have mechanics that support the story of delving into a corrupted dungeon stocked with evil artifacts. SotDL, in contrast, has corruption and insanity mechanics which reinforce that aspect of the story.

Coming across this thread again, I don't think Banewarrens is particularly suited to a planet of the week use.

Banewarrens is a long-deeply involved multipart adventure with a lot of interaction of the city, a well done megadungeon, multiple factions, and delving into setting history and lore. It is designed to cover a lot of character levels and sticking around a good while.

For an X of the week adventure I would think you'd want a shorter (maybe 32 pages or less) focused adventure that highlights a setting's features (like draconians on Krynn).
