Both get a a +2 to persuasion from a 14 charisma. Being a paladin doesn't change anything. A paladin may get more combat benefits from that 14 charisma, the OOC benefits are the same, which is what I thought this discussion was about.

Unless you're just changing the goalposts of course.

The Out of Combat is not the same. The Paladin has social and exploration spells. The Fighter has none.
Heck even a ranger with negative Charisma has better social strength because they can talk to animals and plants and get bonus languages which open up semi-exclusive silos withi the pillar.

And getting that Fighter's OOC strength up requires sacrifice of combat power via a fighting style or feat.

I mean it would have been enough to have a fighter choose between City Watch, Gladiator, Self Taught, Streets, Tribe, or Tutor and get +1d4 to a niche situation.

No. We're asking for a single unique fighter ability that connects to either or both of the social and exploration pillar. Not to be on par with the Bard or a Wizard or a Rogue, but to do literally anything that is unique to the Fighter
If we're allowing subclasses I'm going to bring up the Echo Knight. And possibly also the ridiculous amount of advantage the Rune Knight can throw out with their Storm Rune's prophetic state.

I am toying with the fighter getting a +1dX bonus to niche rolls based on their instructor
City Watch- Wisdom checks to spot hidden items on a person
Gladiator - Charisma checks to draw attention to oneself from nonhostile creatures
Knightly Master- Intelligence checks to recall lore about battles
Military Drill- Charisma checks to keep a straight face
Personal Tutor- Intelligence checks to identify fighting styles and war tactics
Self Taught- ????
Streets- Charisma checks to blend into a crowd
Tribe Culture- Wisdom checks to identify natural scents, smells, and textures.

The fighter I really want to play is the subclass I proposed in another thread: every subclass feature is just "pick a feat from Alert, Mobile, Sentinel, Mageslayer, Grappler, Shield Master, Charger, Savage Attacker, or Fighting Initiate."

I don't play Fighters for their social skills.
