Why do these flaps look more fragile than they used to? Is it because there is no connection near the upper arm?

They do look too floppy to be useful for gliding don't they?

The wingflaps do look distressingly easy to rip at the wrist or ankle if they snag on a branch while paragliding off one of those skyscraper-tall trees.
But at least they can wear a stylish vest while plummeting to their doom!

Mine was with Star Frontiers, back when they were called the Yazirians. The Star Frontiers RPG debuted back in 1982. So they have been around for a very long time.
