D&D 5E Stormwreck Isle Starter Sets show up in the wild!

While I’m in the camp of being happy with the current rules and current changes I dint think I agree that this bodes as news for any changes.

How do we know it’s for after 2024?

I also very happy with the current rules and just want a bit of reorganizing here and there and maybe a few updates on things that are issues for 10 years now.

So, we know from WotC that this is designed to remain the Starter Set for onboarding in the 2024 revision era. So if there are rules here with no obvious changes...those rules are not going to change in 2024, either. That is telling.
I don’t know if it’s that telling. Game rules in the starter aren’t much beyond what’s in the free basic rules and nothing stopping them from throwing in new character sheets on later printings.

Nah, they've hired me to do the 2024 basic set, with changes like these (removal of ability scores and emphasizing backgrounds instead of racial traits), and streamlining 5e down to its most basic core framework: ;)

I am a bit disappointed by the lack of changes, but probably a starter set is not the right place. I don't think this tells us anythin about thr changes in the 24 edition. This would be a weird conclusion.

Have they said this in so many words?
Any major updates/changes would most likely happen in a UA and not a simple starter kit. So, I wasn't expecting that. Would've been cool though.

Most rules are missing
Yes, in the D&D Direct after show they said that this Set will continue to serve for the 2024 revision. The main rules are all in here, from Part 2 of the PHB. That tells us a lot about what they plan to do to the core of the game: namely, not much.

Yes but the theorized changes are primarily related to class, race and character creation. None of those rules are in the starter.

I want to see the Pregens and monsters.

Yeah, but it fully establishes that WotC means business about full compatibility of the core rules. Race and Class are interchangeable modules, they could replace every Class in the game but maintain compatibility with 2014 options if the core rules stay the same.
