The first of the five books, Keys from the Golden Vault, will arrive in winter 2023. At Tuesday's press preview, Chris Perkins, Game Design Architect for D&D, described it as “Ocean’s Eleven meets D&D” and an anthology of short adventures revolving around heists, which can be dropped into existing campaigns.

In Spring 2023, giants get a sourcebook just like their traditional rivals, the dragons, did in Fizban's Treasury of Dragons. Bigby Presents: Glory of the Giants will be a deep dive into hill, frost, fire, cloud, and storm giants, plus much more.

Summer 2023 will have two releases. The Book of Many Things is a collection of creatures, locations, and other player-facing goodies related to that most famous D&D magic item, the Deck of Many Things. Then “Phandelver Campaign” will expand the popular Lost Mine of Phandelver from the D&D Starter Set into a full campaign tinged with cosmic horror.

And then last, but certainly not least, in Fall 2023, WotC revives another classic D&D setting – Planescape. Just like Spelljammer: Adventures in Space, Planescape will be presented as a three-book set containing a setting guide, bestiary, and adventure campaign in a slipcase. Despite the Spelljammer comparison they did not confirm whether it would also contain a DM screen.

More information on these five titles will be released when we get closer to them in date.

I honestly wonder if the "Book of Many Things" is part of what Winninger was hinting at? Just what thst boom is, is very unclear so far: might be a sort of oddball pseudo-Setting book, like Journeys Through the Radiant Citadel?
It would feel like a bit of a cop-out if the two "new settings" turned out to just be the material in Radiant Citadel and Book of Many Things. Sure, it meets an "exact words" standard, but still.

Don't forget Goliaths, Firbolg, and perhaps even Orcs: it would be a good spot to dive into lore for those Races, too.

I wonder if theybwill provide rules for Large or, Heaven fortend, Huge PCs...?

I mentioned firbolg, but, yeah, totally forgot goliaths. I don't think orcs quite fit - they're still humanoid in type, and beyond that they're human-sized, so don't really mesh with the term "giant".

So that's 14 giant types in 5e so far, so shouldn't be too hard to grab 6 from previous editions to round out to 20. That's actually the same amount that Fizban's added/updated (5 gems and moonstone).

Just looking back, there are a lot ofnoptions. They could expand on the Mercane, for example. Or possibly the Primordials and other Elemental critters.

Oh, I'm not knocking Radiant Citadel at all, but it isn't a setting book in the same sense as Ravenloft, Eberron, or even SCAG.
Fair, but I can't help but shake feeling thst might be what Winninger was talking about.

Or, those new Settings are still on the drawing board, or abandoned.

I'll second this. Anyone who thinks that a single Planescape release is going to somehow have more than even a fraction of what was in the four boxed sets and 4 - 5 single book releases (and those were just the setting info books, nevermind the adventures or bestiaries) of the 2e line is already setting themselves up for disappointment...
My experience of Planescape was that there were lots of high concepts & lots of words, but most of it wasn't very game-able and didn't translate readily to stuff a DM could implement at the table. I'm echoing Jim Davis of WebDM when I say that I'd like to see a more adventuresome Planescape.

They don't necessarily need four boxed sets worth of material, if they can manage to make one book that is full of adventure ready material. But that's just my view.

To quote the holy scripture of Spaceballs: "How could there be a cassette of Spaceballs-the Movie. We're still in the middle of making it.
Basically, how in the world can WotC know that everything published since 2014 will be compatible with the 2024 edition when they haven't even playtested the 2024 edition?

Because that is one of the defined goals… it’s like you asking ‘we haven’t even designed the plane yet, how can we possibly know whether it will fly ?’
