What book would you like to see become a movie/mini-series?

The Garrett PI series from Glen Cook - would be awesome (though the undecerning may compare it to Dresden)

On Stranger Tides - Tim Powers needs an actual retelling

I'll kick it old school and go with The Chronicles of Amber by Roger Zelazny. It's a story about a family from a "true" world representing order, and all the other words, including ours, are shadows of theirs. The family is from Amber, the true world, can travel through all those shadow worlds at will. We see the efforts of one of the sons, Corwin, to take the crown after his brother seizes control. It's bizarre, but I think the public would be ready for such a tale.
This is one of my two answers. The other, which I think would need an animated treatment, is the Malazan Book of the Fallen.

Just had a thougt Re: Groo

I’d hate to have to be the art department having to do an animated movie or series based on someone else’s style of drawing, I know it happens all the time, but, still..

If there were to be a live-action version, my first thought for casting would be Jack Black in the title role. The only downside is his age- everything else suits him to a T.

Not sure about which younger actor– if any- could swing it.

I'm hoping that HBO does a new I, Claudius. I think the original mini-series is probably impossible to top but I would be interested in what they do with the books (and remembering hearing a rumor they had bought the rights a while back, not sure if it's true).

Hyperion and Fall of Hyperion.. Canterbury Tales in the far future..It's basically made to be a miniseries.

The Dark Tower..Idris Elba is great, he should be Roland in a Dark Tower movie if they'll ever make one (yes this is a willful denial of reality).

Well, there are the books by Brandon Sanderson, the Mistborn series and the Way of Kings series. I've actually not read them, but I have a kid who is a HUGE fan.

Dragonlance could be a fun one (seeing we are on a D&D board) or a Drizzt one.

I'll echo Prydain (as someone said above) AS LONG as it respects the source material.

How about something from C.J. Cherryh...or is that somehow to unknown to many these days?
