The level of hyperbole about how terrible DMs are if they don't allow everything a player wants always hits such ridiculous heights.
It would be funny if it weren’t so earnest. And the whole creativity tangent, yikes. I’ve introduced 5E button pushers to OSE and after a few hiccups they suddenly got it. It was like a literal light went on over their head. Limitations and restrictions breed creativity.

Context matters. I wouldn't have used that term, but the whole sentence?

If the campaign has been set ahead of time and the player shows up to the game to create a conflict, he's being a douche.

So yes, someone that goes out of their way to be disruptive, that person is the problem.

your right context matters... the entire thread and the post he responded to show the context is he is calling anyone that disagrees a douche

That's just wrong.

Max doesn’t need me to defend him, but here’s the quote:

In my experience, people will come to the games with characters that fit the concept of the campaign as the DM laid it out. I've seen a small handful of cases where that didn't happen and each time it was the player being a douche and picking a concept for the purpose of creating a conflict.

If the campaign has been set ahead of time and the player shows up to the game to create a conflict, he's being a douche.
If the player for whatever reason only has one possible character concept he can ever have fun with(something I've never seen), he needs to explain that to the DM before the first game and see if the DM can make an exception.
No one was called a douche for wanting to play a PHB race/class.

except again... this is in the context of pages (threads really) of him argueing that the suggestion of an orc or half orc on krynn would ruin the world and the player would be in the wrong...

Nah, I think this is a reach on your part, should we go cherry pick the lines that paint DM's as mustache twirling sadists?
why not... everyone is perfectly fine with insulting each other and pretending they are being assaulted at this point. these threads have become more and more cess pits.

All I am saying here is before you start throwing around "Why are DMs being picked on" well the reason is cause EVERYONE is at this point...

I didnt insult anyone, but you are right, people are certainly acting as if cleaving to the lore of a setting is some act of violence against their person.
