I liked the mystery pocket ability. In combination with the removal of even the slightest hint of restriction on the Orders, its worth more to me to take a petulant stand against the direction Wizards is taking, compared to anything I'm going to get out of this book.

So what you're saying is you liked how WotC was going to change the kender into a fey creature who magically conjures things in its pockets as opposed to what kenders have been in 1e, 2e, and 3e?

No, I liked it as a 'yep they are thieves' it didnt need to be magical, and they certainly didnt need to be fey.

They can still steal stuff. They can even get proficiency, and it's stated that many become pro thieves.

The Pocket ability was stated as being magical in origin never a thief one.

Yeah they could do the same thing back in 1e to 3e, as nothing mechanically stopped them there.

As mentioned it's similar to past Kender profiles. And Races where they just have one personality trait are much more boring then ones with several.

Like I keep my creatures pretty traditional myself, but I still use outliers who are not just the default.
