D&D (2024) New leak looks real bad

Thinking about this more, the price is irrelevant. Let's assume that people have the right to spend their money how they choose, and are fully capable of making their own decisions on what is worth what. Where I live, people pay $1250 for season's tickets to see the Victoria Royals, a junior league hockey club. This boggles my mind, but that is their business, and I assume they wouldn't do it if they didn't think it was worth it.

If Hasbro can get tons of people to pay $30/month for a subscription, good for them. They will have obviously come up with something tons of people thought was good value.
I don't necessarily disagree, but as I've pointed out, I get a lot of value paying for my ESO+ subscriptions (15/month, less when you buy in bulk) than I would with this, if for no other reason than I play ESO daily and D&D twice monthly. I could justify a $15 or $20 per month fee (again, with discount for multi-month) but $30 is just a little out of my price point.

The numbers only go up.

I work in sales. If doesn't matter what you make last year. Next year you are expected to make more money. The first thing I said to my boss this year is "This year you project me to sell how much?"

Indeed. So lets not present it as 'there are people playing who are not paying' as if thats some crime against God.

Capitalism demands, the profit must always increase, and nothing else is relevant. It was a tired argument before, it remains as such.

You don't know what "this" is.
Yes, we do; "this" is what's mentioned in this latest leak. That it's possibly not reflective of what's eventually released isn't really relevant; there's nothing inherently wrong with having opinions and reactions on unconfirmed/incomplete information, what's wrong is not adjusting the opinions accordingly when more complete/trustworthy information is eventually released.

Homebrew banned at the Free Tier seem 10% fine to me.

You don't get server memory space to create stuff for fee.
Lol that’s absurd. Thousands of players create content on neverwinter online, for free.

It benefits them to host people’s homebrew creations.
I'm sorry. At a certain point, D&D fans have to spend money.
😂 um…they are spending money my guy
Everything can be free. Not just for WOTC but 3rd party publishers. I mean this whole disaster happened because Hasbro finally looked at D&D, realized at a table of 5 people only 2 of them were spending money, and went "how do I snatch money out the other 3?"
Corporate greed isn’t a great argument for the “this is fine” side of the discussion.

And to think, this is (allegedly) where they’re heading instead of doing what demiplane is doing and hosting any system that sets up a page, and providing creators and users tools to facilitate that, along with a marketplace like DMSGUILD, all giving wizards a cut.

No, let’s not use our position as the biggest ship in the port to make the big tent bigger while getting a percentage on every ticket, beer, and giant corn dog. That’s be ridiculous! Gotta shrink the entire industry by being stupid and evil! LOL

Ok all, I get it, we are all on the WOTC = evil train right now, but if your going to listen to the leaks, you have to take them at full value.

The leak said this is the HIGHEST TIER, and includes monthly content drops. So....that's a wait and see, what do other structures look like, is there a free version, is the $30 per month just glistening with content....we simply do not know.
This is the leak by GeekNative in Aug 2022.

Apparently, there are only two tiers − all or nothing − $0 or $30-per-month.

The no-cost plan only allows "3 encounters" on the VTT. Yikes!

Also, no homebrew content for no-cost.

Well, that's pretty much our argument isn't it?

What's next in this race to the bottom?

Say this goes live, what else comes after?

All I'm saying is Hasbro is going to try to make money somehow.

And in the 2020s, the 2 biggest Big Corp money fads are Ads and Subs.

Indeed. So lets not present it as 'there are people playing who are not paying' as if thats some crime against God.

Capitalism demands, the profit must always increase, and nothing else is relevant. It was a tired argument before, it remains as such.
I'm not saying it's the right way to go.

But if Hasbro looks at both of my groups, the first thing they will notice is that half the people own no books or WOTC merch.
