Yes, it almost has a Ravenloft tone now.I think my advice to someone who isn't sold on the first episode is definitely that it takes a much darker, serious tone pretty quickly

In gaming terms, what it felt like was that shift between tiers of play. The first episode is like lower levels - where no one really knows VM other than the other mercs in the bar, and after the fight they have 3sp between them - and then a little higher. I was reading up on some of the NPCs in the story, like Brimscythe, and according to the wiki, Brimscythe is about level 7 in their home game. Now, we know it's not going to be a 1-to-1 D&D/Pathfinder equivalency in the show, but that's a bump up.Just watched episodes 4 through 6, it's a remarkable improvement. The fights have gotten much better, the characterization of the main cast has improved, it feels like the show is starting to hit it's stride.
Yup, watched the first three last night. Looking good.Has returned for a second season.
It shows just how afraid of dragons characters should be, but never are.I was interrupted during the second episode. I haven't gotten back to it yet. The Chromatica Conclave is an amazing name. This could be an interesting story.
Yeah, in the actual campaign there was a bit of dissonance as it dawned on the players that these particular dragons were not enemies they could defeat yet ("wait, 21 missed!?"). In the cartoon show they are a little freer from the expectations of D&D.It shows just how afraid of dragons characters should be, but never are.
Clearly they aren't playing 1e, or the villagers would have risen up and slaughtered the ancient huge dragons
Dragon fear saves have NEVER been used in games I've played in. I think it should be. It's only logical. In my no so humble opinion, dragons should be the most powerful, and feared creatures, short of the gods themselves. It shows just how afraid of dragons characters should be, but never are.

I agree. Dragons should be the most dangerous thing that's still given hit points.Dragon fear saves have NEVER been used in games I've played in. I think it should be. It's only logical.
