Girls Who Don't D&D

Aeson

I learned nerd for this.
It's just three girls (who've never played D&D before),
a Dungeon Master (who owns all the books but hasn't read them)
and a handful of dice (they're fine)...

The DM seems to know what he's doing. I think he might have read a few lines of at least one book. I'm 3 episodes in. I'm really enjoying it so far.

A Title Much Cooler Than Anything on the Old Site
Added it to my Pocket Casts lineup. Will be interesting to see if their unfamiliarity with the rules will be entertaining or annoying.

I'm leaning towards entertaining. They seem to be able to go with the flow. The DM uses voice actors for some preplanned bits. In the second episode a couple of the voice actors are listeners who offered to help. The daughter's name is Savage. I hope that's her real name because it's savage. lol

At the bottom of the page are some bios, and it does say that Cory (the DM) has been playing since he was a kid . . . and implies that while he owns a ton of D&D books, he hasn't read through them all . . . rather than not reading any of them at all. The clever wording obscures what they are trying to actually say, I think.

Are they Aussie or Kiwi? I want to say Kiwi. I know the accents are different but as an American exposure to New Zealand accents is really limited. For one of them the numbers 13 and 14 came out as fourdeen and thirdeen instead of thirteen and fourteen. The others didn't seem to do that so I figured it's a regional thing.

I did look for bios. I guess I didn't go down far enough. I guess it's a good thing he's experienced. I remember my early days as a DM. That wouldn't have made for a good podcast. Even today wouldn't make for a good podcast. lol

I haven’t listened to this podcast, but as an expat American who’s lived in NZ for 20 years, I can pick up the difference pretty easily.

Aussies tend to lengthen vowels (feesh n cheeps) while Kiwis clip them (f’sh n ch’ps).

I’ll have a listen later and let you know what I think of their accents.

Also, one has the sound of sheep in the background on the audio and the other has shrimp sizzling on the barbie.
