D&D General Kobold Press Going Down a Dark Road

I am not sure the goal as stated here is something WotC would disagree with. The difference is that you no longer like what they do because of it.
They wouldn't disagree with it, but that doesn't mean they are putting in any effort to keep the player base they built the game for. Some of them are just coming along for their own reasons.

And liking the changes doesn't make you "right" any more than not liking the changes makes me "wrong".
yep, there is no right or wrong here as far as what is a good change or not, it’s all personal opinion.

I mostly disagree with you when you complain about WotC’s direction as being bad for the game because it does not match your personal taste. To me a change with 80% approval is a sound change, even if I do not personally like it.

eh, it’s not a big deal if I do not like them either, I am not as invested as you are. If I do not like them I stick with 5e or try something else.
Heck, I’ll look into others regardless.

If I liked LU as much as you seem to (haven’t looked into it enough to say either way) I’d not care about 1DD at all.
As I said, I am invested in WotC's settings, and I like talking about D&D. Both those things require me to engage in WotC threads if I want to be involved, even though I don't care for what they're making of the game.

yeah, I disagree with that notion completely. What do you think the playtest is? Not to mention, it would just be bad business

You are equating a good game with a popular game. That is what I take issue with.

Like I said, I didn't like 4e personally, but I respect the design and think it was a good game.

The playtest is mostly a marketing tool, but also a way for them to publicly ask all the new players since 5e started what they like. Shows that they care.

And what they care about.

I am not saying you should shut up, I am saying I would not care about the playtest and as a result neither discuss or follow it. I’d discuss other D&D related content, like the settings, instead

I do discuss the settings. A lot. But it also matters how WotC chooses to express those settings if they release new material. And that ties right into the playtest.

I do not equate the two, said so a few posts up too
oh I agree, popularity is not everything, but it sure is something you should consider.

Also, how would you want to measure good design? Ignore outside input (not ask for it) and go with your gut feel?

My problem is that you seem to equate good design with ‘I like it’, at least you have not given any other measure as far as I can tell

I have mentioned my respect for 4e multiple times as a good game, despite my personal dislike.
