D&D General Pros and Cons of Combining Hells and the Abyss.

One of the pros of combining the Lowers planes is that I really got to dive into what the different fiends are.

A devil is different from a demon, daemon, demodand, diablo (aztec likefiends), or dakuma (oni).

They fight different. They act different. They bargain different. They have different enemies.

It also allowed me to display the Lower Plane as an embodiment of Evil. Evil's strength is that is willing to twist or break rules. This means Evil has a higher potential power than Good.

But Evil is selfish and that power can never fully aligned to be harnessed into one point. So the Lower Hells is a plane of constant hold and cold wars with divisions within each faction.

Interesting.

If a devil or daemon is attacking you, someone somewhere has a contract written somewhere that is causing this.

The difference is you can always pay off the daemon to stop attacking you.
The cost or route to get the devil might exist. However if it exists, it is written on the contract.

There's never a contact for a demodand. They attack you because you exist and aren't a demodand.
There might be a contract for the demon. It's not worth the paper it's written on.

So Unified Hell has 9 LE Devil Nations in begrudged contracted alliances with each other against 666 warring CE Demon Hordes. 3 NE Daemon City States running Mercenary companies. 6 NE Demodand Fiefdoms attacking everyone. And beyond the Gate, the Single Oni Empire slowly grows.

EDIT: Clarity
