WotC has owned D&D for 26 years. Other than Eberron and the Nentir Vale, it's been a constant remix of TSR settings, lore, and concepts, and now MtG. It's well past time to leave FR behind, as well as the TSR lore, and make something new for the game. Keep supporting the old, but move the energy to something new, with its own takes on monsters and cosmology and so forth. You know, like Nentir Vale did.
And we know they can build great setting; their MTG line has many bits of good worldbuilding. I mean, the ''main'' setting of MTG (cant remember the name), with the invasion of the machines dudes from an other world and the planar metropolis of Ravnica would have been a sick D&D setting. I guess you could even add Ixalan and that one with the floating mountains as continent on the same map or use the gothic one and the fairy-tales one as their Feywild/Shadowfel equivalent.

I will start putting pizza on a burger and then my revenge against Hawaian pizza will finally be complete!
Honestly, I think a burger with the buns made of pizza dough, with a nice tomatoes, garlic and onions compote as the condiment would be interesting. Add a nice slice of fresh mozzarella and a mix of arugula and fresh basil leaves mixed with a bit of olive oil and you'd have an awesome pizza burger. And if you are a ''bacon-in-burger'' guy, you can even put some crispy prosciutto (3-4 minutes at 450 degrees in the oven).

Ha ha true. Now let’s assume we need 500 different types of TV or TV adaptor to watch them?
I don't understand the analogy you're making. Let's say that's the case. Presumably I'm not trying to watch all 500 shows. So I need, what, a couple of adapters?

We don’t need a single common language. I just think writing for 10-15 or so main games would be more successful than writing for a thousand. The issue of editions compounds the problem. It doesn’t matter if this is an eternal problem or a recent one. Still a problem.

The latter is fair, but the idea its new was what I was taking issue with. By 1990 I probably could have named at least a hundred game systems I knew of out there, and once you get to that, it doesn't matter if its a hundred or a thousand, because most of them are going to be obscure anyway.

Games aren't languages, they're media. I don't want to be locked in to watching season 57 of The Office or season 12 of The Walking Dead: Another Location. I want to have new things to enjoy.

While its a fair position, for the most part I don't consider them either: I consider them tools.
