Yeah, that's true. Though, I think both ends of that spectrum are hard to deal with. As with many things, there's a vast middle ground that works better than either end: Know the game well enough to play it without bogging it down for others, but also, don't bog it down for others by your vast knowledge of every little detail either.

I have a problem player right now who's kind of the worst of both (Though a good guy! I wouldn't want to kick him out or anything!) He doesn't know the rules of the game particularly well, but he wants to optimize his every turn for the most "perfect" thing he can do. He takes as long on each of his turns as the rest of the table combined, going through all his spells and humming and hawing as to which would be the best one.

I'm like, "Just pick one and cast it! It doesn't usually matter that much, in the end."

I'm going to keep working on trying to get him to "behave".

"Play nicely with others" (my #1 piece of advice in gaming) has a LOT of nuance, really.
Sounds like you need an egg timer.

I think most people rate FG low primarily because it isn't browser based. It is far superior to Roll20.
Fantasy Grounds has default "accessibility" settings that are intolerable to me, and puts visual theme solely in the hands of the GM for aesthetic reasons that shouldn't be more important than player usability... but here we are. Largest and fastest refund I've ever requested or received for a gaming product.

The moment someone with real software expertise decides that the VTT space is worth going into, all the existing VTTs are going to get crushed by software with actual decent UI and usability. I appreciate all the hobbyists that have built the existing VTTs, but the fact that it's not some big software company behind them really shows.

Wrong again.

I think the explanation is pretty clear. I wasn’t making it up.

And we know they can build great setting; their MTG line has many bits of good worldbuilding. I mean, the ''main'' setting of MTG (cant remember the name), with the invasion of the machines dudes from an other world and the planar metropolis of Ravnica would have been a sick D&D setting. I guess you could even add Ixalan and that one with the floating mountains as continent on the same map or use the gothic one and the fairy-tales one as their Feywild/Shadowfel equivalent.
It's a shame they were so afraid of the "WotC is turning D&D into MtG" outcry that they didn't start doing this until this edition.

Whether that is true or not, I am sure that someone who wants to make a lot of microtransaction dollars is going to get into the field and cause irreparable harm.
