It is also possible that Disney buying out Hasbro could run into monopoly issues with the Dept of Justice, the EU Commision would probably throw a fit also. 20 years ago they would have gotten away with it (though maybe not in the EU) but there are signs that the DoJ is starting to pay attention to mergers again.
Maybe, Hasbro is a relatively small company, itni Microaoft and Activision level issue, and would mostly be vertical integration.

No,.because you can't copyright card mechanics. But Lorcana is a MtG variant, that may well threaten WotC market share as the number 3 CCG. So, executive decision making processes being what tjeybare, I can see anxiety over Lorcana boiling over into the OGL.
There have been one million CCGs since the advent of MtG. What does Lorcana have to do with "Disney using D&D's IP"?

Yes, and two of them, Pokémon and YuGiOh (both blatantly MyG ripoffs, as is Lorcana) outsell MtG year to year. Lorcana has a serious shot at taking away even more.of that market share. If Disney decided to put out a Disney Princess RPG (which I for one would 100% buy)...that could be the biggest market share threat D&D has ever faced, no joke. And so the whole point of the OGL changes, to control large companies entering their market, makes a sort of sense.

Except the MtG thing doesn't have anything to do with the OGL, or WotC's IP. It is a matter of patent law.

I'm not saying Hasbro shouldn't be worried about being out competed by Disney. I'm just not understanding the threat to WotC's IP angle.

The people who make high level decisions about D&D are the same people losing sleep over Lorcana. And what's-his-face, the D&D Operations guy specifically called out anxieties about Disney as a cause...and I don't think that was blowing smoke, I think Disney is literally giving his bosses heart attacks.

Lorcana is using a lot of.MtG mechanics (because they can'tbe copyrightes), and the OGL could seem to said sleep-deprived executive as allowing the same. I'm not saying they are right, but the fear seems reasonable.
