D&D (2024) Do you think they will add more races to PHB2024 to make up for dropping other stuff?

They haven't said, they tried this Ardlings thing, but every one was like that just an Aasimar with an animal head, so just put Aasimar in, but instead they just pulled Ardlings despite it scoring well (like it never occurs to them to provide more interesting lore, because they mechanics in both versions was fine, the first one just needed to be given to the Aasimar and second needed better lore).
Who said Ardlings scored well? Not WotC, that I can recall. Quite the contrary.

What is it? When I asked before why human/elf and human/orc hybrids deserved special treatment, you said “legacy.” If there are other reasons, please enumerate them.

Legacy.
Is part of 5e now, and was on release.
Next to zero cost at continuing to include them.
Appeals to people for any number of reasons as outlined in previous threads.

Now tell me what is improved by removing them from the reprint of the evergreen edition?

Maybe you like the half-elves and or half-orc rules as presented in the 2014 book? That's good enough for me to keep in a book with the same name that's supposed to be the same edition.

Do you think they're going to call it the Revised Player's Handbook, or something of the like? You know, go for accuracy? I sincerely doubt it.

So, in so many words, tradition.

As I’ve said, if hybrid species are a thing, it makes sense to support more than just those two specific combinations. And there just ain’t room to include full species write ups for every combination. So, a simple, generic system to accommodate whatever combination the player might want makes sense. Also, removing their write ups opens up page count, so now we get full-blooded orcs and Goliaths in the PHB. Win-win.

Yeah, so tradition. That’s probably a compelling reason to a lot of folks, but it isn’t to me.

They might. Not sure it really matters if they do or not.

Someone liking a part of the rules that is being removed and wanting it not to be removed has nothing to do with tradition, but if it makes it easier to reject the opinions of others by labeling all their arguments as the same thing, go right ahead.

If you don't see a difference, then of course it doesn't matter to you. If you do, how could it not matter?
