i don't know if i'd want both templates and mixed species as mechanics in the same game, like, i get that there's no real reason why any species shouldn't be able to be a tiefling or assimar but i think they also deserve to exist as their own species, i mean maybe you could have tiefling (species) and tiefling lineage (template/feat) but there'd also be the situation of combining both mixed ancestry with ancestry modifiers for a ton of disparate species traits

I wouldn't be bothered or care about Human-Elf or Elf-Human instead of using half. I don't think it's any more or less awkward and would just be a matter of forming the habit. After a few weeks I suspect it would feel just like Half-Elf feels right now.
Exactly. Why are we making up ridiculous euphemisms to replace perfectly usable terms again? "Human-Elf Oh, yeah, that's just what this edition calls a half-elf. No, I don't understand it myself."

I think we should remove drow as a race. After all, its just a different skin-coloured elf. I think to avoid problematic issues it should just be rolled into "elf".

Actually defining a different species based on ear-shape also seems a bit problematic. Time to get rid of that too...
