D&D General Humans are Blind

Mammals aren’t the only living things on the planet. Human day vision and colour vision is inferior to many bird species.

But if you watch your pet cat it’s quite obvious their close-up vision is rubbish. Maybe tabaxi shouldn’t be able to read?

You have to be a little careful there, because you are relying on "one species is like this, so all must be like this". But various measures of visual acuity are easy to change, even within a type.

Grungeonmaster has a pretty good video on this subject where he lays out a case for humans making for a great fit in the role of un/semi-skilled labor and insulation against population collapse. Kind of like Blade Runner's replicants but for the longer lived and more powerful fantasy races.
