D&D General (SPOILERS for Vecna: Eve of Ruin) Are My Standards Too High for Adventures?

Anyone else hoping you can have a Bastion in the Infinite Staircase given Nafas has a Palace there?
Canonically, the Planewalker's Guild set up shop somewhere in the Infinite Staircase after they left Sigil, so at least some of the stair's landings would presumably be large enough to support buildings, or perhaps even entire settlements.

So I'd imagine that it'd be an option, if not necessarily an explicitly enumerated one. I'd certainly allow it if I were DM.

No I said it's their fault for not using Beyond. Not that they didn't count.

Also predatory, that's some hyperbole.
I've looked at Beyond. I can't speak for everyone, but for me, it's not formatted in a useful manner (what can I say; I prefer pdfs), and as others have pointed out, most of that stuff is paywalled. The last time I was there, I couldn't even get to stuff I know is in the srd--it kept trying to get me to buy the PH and DMG. There's probably a way to find the srd material, but after 10-15 minutes of searching, I couldn't find it.

With that in mind, why on earth would I bother to go back there to read adventures? How would I even find them? For that matter, how would I even know they're there in the first place?

Anthologies are fine, but that doesn't mean there isn't a place for stand alone short adventures otherwise. WotC doesn't do them because they aren't worth the return on investment. that's fine. But don't act like people are being unreasonable for wanting them.
Forget WotC ROI, way more people would be livid over WotC gouging customers by selling 6 small $30 softcovers with the same amount of material as 1 $60 hardcover than would be happy to pay 3 times as much for the same amount of material.

You simple go the all sources folder and the basic rules are there. Similarly, anything with the “basic” tag is from the basic rules and free to anyone. So if you look up the orc it’s “source” is listed as basic - that means anyone can look at / use it.

Not sure how this will be handled with the 2024 / 25 updates
