D&D (2024) Early access to 2024 books in DnDBeyond is tied to subscription tier.

It is 54.99 for annual subscription (equates to $4.58/month) or you can choose to pay $5.99/month for a monthly master sub.

Usually, only 1 person in a group needs the master sub.

If you want everything though, you are shelling out an additional 200 or more per year to buy the content; however, it is a hobby and only about 20% of the customer base even buys the content outside of the core books.
Rent the content, actually. Subject to WotC's whim.

I've only skimmed most of this, but people are upset because a company gives a very minor benefit to people who support the company? This apparently makes them the scum of the earth?

Good grief. Of course they want to encourage people to subscribe to DDB, getting digital access to the books a whole 14 days earlier is hardly a huge difference. People get benefits like this from companies all the time. It's no different from supporting a company (and many times patreon is supporting a company, not an individual for what it matters) getting early access or other bonuses.

People really do work hard to invent ways to hate WotC.
